Subj: Cheap airline tickets? Since contesters tend to use airlines for contest DXpeditions, I thought I'd pass this along. The company is "Ticket Savers" and their toll-free number is 1-800-GO-AWAY-4 (don't you just hate it when they do that!!) OK, it's 1-800-462-9294. I haven't called them yet and I make no claims as to what they can save you (if anything). I just thought it might be helpful to someone contemplating some travel. 73 Scott KA9FOX ka9fox@aol.com P.S. If things go as planned, I'll be on for just a little bit for SSB NAQP from K9MA... hold off on the babe comments please, as Laurie might be sitting next to me with headphones on! :-) ------------ Subj: cheap airline tickets Date: Thu, Jan 19, 1995 9:34 AM CDT From: cmschonewaldcox@ucdavis.edu X-From: cmschonewaldcox@ucdavis.edu ([user unknown]) Sender: owner-cq-contest@tgv.com Reply-to: cmschonewaldcox@ucdavis.edu ([user unknown]) To: cq-contest@tgv.com For anyone interested I have access to very cheap tickets to the Pacific rim area (Asia side) from most US ports. 73 Bob K3EST cmschonewaldcox@ucdavis.edu ------ Date: Thu, Jan 19, 1995 9:14 AM CDT From: N0bsh Subj: Re: Cheap airline tickets? To: KA9FOX Sounds like a consolidator on a bit more public scale. You often can get cheaper tickets but there are often many restrictions and stuff that go with it. But it's good to check them out anyway, m -------- Subj: RE: Cheap airline tickets? Airlines will "lock-out" popular flying times and thus the deals offered by these discount outfits are limited during those times. 73, --Glenn KB1GW gswanson@arrl.org ---------- Subj: Re: Cheap airline tickets? Of course there are all kinds of brokers and bucket shops and so forth that deal in cheap tickets, but an interesting service that N6KT pointed out to me last October is that Costco now cuts airplane tickets at 5% off whatever the going rate is. The concept is that they are kicking back a chunk of the travel agent commission. Might be worth a look if you have a Costco or Price Club in your area. --Trey, WN4KKN/6 -------------- Subj: Airline Tickets Date: Thu, Jan 19, 1995 3:03 AM CDT From: jesposit@sctcorp.com X-From: jesposit@sctcorp.com (Joe Esposito) Sender: owner-cq-contest@tgv.com Reply-to: jesposit@sctcorp.com (Joe Esposito) To: cq-contest@tgv.com Scott, KA9FOX, posted a note about discounted airline tickets. While I can't speak for this particular company, there have been others in the past that operate as a discount travel agent much like a discount stock broker. They typically offer no advice about travel arrangements. You need to know exactly which flights and accommodations that you want to purchase. After sending them you money, they sendyou the tickets. Still it's not all that bad a deal. 73, Joe, K2YJL/M ----------
