Background:
As shipped, the DXD does not pass to the radios the computer-generated CW keying signal and PTT signals if the DXD is in Transmit Manual Mode.
Modification:
1. Tools needed: Small diagonal cutter (sim. to Craftsman 45660), 25W soldering pencil and thin electronic solder.
2. Remove the DXD cover and locate U4.
3. Using a small diagonal cutter, snip leads 2 and 5 of U4 very close to the printed circuit board.
4. Carefully bend the remaining part of of leads 2 and 5 up and away from the pc board.
5. Both pins 2 and 5 need to be grounded. A convenient way is to tack solder the lead from an 1/8 watt resistor across them and onto the ground side of R21, which is close to U4. The photo shows the finished modification.
6. Reinstall the cover.
Total time required to do this modification will be approximately 15 minutes.
