About my CCD , ANTENNA...and more

Do you have a CCD antenna? If not you should Google up "CCD Anteannas" and read AI7R's stuff on them.. He's very conservative compare to the results Tom , WQ5J, and myself have had.
We think they are the best possible wire antenna as long as you can have more than 1 as they are BAND LIMITED. Not necessarily Sgl band but the 40 meter one , is good on a couple of Warcs, and the 80 meter is good in a few other spots, but they are really band specific mostly. Another man down in the Hill country Harry, W4ANL has an 80 at right angle (like an L) and uses it everywhere. They are complicated to build, but Dave , AI7R, offers ready mades and kits.. Worth the money either way, but not dirt cheap.
Band condtions continue to be terrible, our 7.249 group can rarely talk to one another, in the morning, but hopefully it will start the other way someday. Still running the ICOM 7000 on base though I did get my 746 Pro back and its more fun to use, but not as good as the 7000 for recieve trickery when you need it. I dont know if I can bear to put the 7000 in my vehicle or not. Might be good right now with that extra little bit of recieve capability, and even more quiet than my 706IIG. Still love my HI Q Stealth antenna too! Even in these rotten conditions, people say my mobile is stout! Ham Comm in 2 weeks, I have decide to go see, but have no tables so will not be bringing much. If you see something you want me to bring, let me know. Hot summer days and dry weather. . NOW everyone has it!! hihi...73 Murray WHO is the mystery guest this week? He lives in Texas, naturally.

Have Come up with a better Shunt coil.....

Just FYI, its seems that 6 turns of good heavy magnet wire or some heavy #12 or so, in a 1 3/4" inch wrap works even better on my screwdriver to get 80 and 40 in line......spread it out after winding it tight to about 1/4" and then go back and forth between 80 and 40 till you get an equal SWR, usually about 1.3 or so on both bands..... no taps neccessary as long as you can keep it 1.3 or 1.4. Lot easier to build too......Wind it tight and then spread it out evenly to about 2.5 inches wide. Simple enough..Gettin real hot out here in West Texas....and Global Quarming seems to be the thing on 7.249 where we hang in the Daytime. Another group in Texas has moved to 7.250, what an idiot move. 49 stays hot all day when the band is open. Right now its hit or miss. Will be glad for this cycle to end and start back up. Ready for a hamfest.... Murray PS:..Picture is my friend and Ham Mentor August K5HCT

5-2-06 Hot and Dry....wonder how its going in Dayton

Tried to watch the live web cam but it was down. Maybe later. Super hot out here in the west, a little quiet but still lots of activity on the swaps. Dont forget the two Texas nets on Sunday. 10AM Central Time 7.245 ... Texas Traders Net.......... and 7:30 Pm 3.922 Continental Traders net. Who knows where the bands will lead us. Next big deal out here is Ham Com in Plano Texas but I doubt it will be what it has in the past, hope so though. Course with 48 flea market tables versus several hundred in the past, what must they be thinking? Ill go see....but outside in June in DFW area. You gotta be young and crazy. Last time we tried, 'outflow boundry' blew our tents in the lake by the ball field, washed all the radios, and in general, it was a terrible mess. Never saw so many radios in my motor home at one time hihi!!
Did you know that propane is only $1.80 a gallon. My little motor home runs on it, lucky me, but it still takes a ton to go anywhere. ...Let me show you this Drake L 75 amp. Sgl. 3-500Z for 1000 watts out pep. And so quiet compared to some of the others...Its for sale!! So is the little motor home, you can go to earlier posts and see it here..73 Murray
