About my CCD , ANTENNA...and more

Do you have a CCD antenna? If not you should Google up "CCD Anteannas" and read AI7R's stuff on them.. He's very conservative compare to the results Tom , WQ5J, and myself have had.
We think they are the best possible wire antenna as long as you can have more than 1 as they are BAND LIMITED. Not necessarily Sgl band but the 40 meter one , is good on a couple of Warcs, and the 80 meter is good in a few other spots, but they are really band specific mostly. Another man down in the Hill country Harry, W4ANL has an 80 at right angle (like an L) and uses it everywhere. They are complicated to build, but Dave , AI7R, offers ready mades and kits.. Worth the money either way, but not dirt cheap.
Band condtions continue to be terrible, our 7.249 group can rarely talk to one another, in the morning, but hopefully it will start the other way someday. Still running the ICOM 7000 on base though I did get my 746 Pro back and its more fun to use, but not as good as the 7000 for recieve trickery when you need it. I dont know if I can bear to put the 7000 in my vehicle or not. Might be good right now with that extra little bit of recieve capability, and even more quiet than my 706IIG. Still love my HI Q Stealth antenna too! Even in these rotten conditions, people say my mobile is stout! Ham Comm in 2 weeks, I have decide to go see, but have no tables so will not be bringing much. If you see something you want me to bring, let me know. Hot summer days and dry weather. . NOW everyone has it!! hihi...73 Murray WHO is the mystery guest this week? He lives in Texas, naturally.

HiEVIL, I didnt have to do a thing to it, and its dead quiet. I did
strap the lift back cause I have 2 meter on lip mount there..The mount
is a curled piece of 3/8ths steel, welded to the frame under the left
rear and bolted at the bumper where it comes out. about 3 inches
depending on your antenna at a 45 so it out a couple of inches side and
back...I have a piece of black nylon rope from the top of the hatch back
to the antenna but it does no work except at 70mph plus. No real noise
on my 706MKIIG BUT, I wouldnt go mobile without a clear speech (old
style) speaker. It makes it so much more pleasant and its a little
bettter than the NR in the Icom, a little.. NOT SO on the new 7000 , its
so quiet you think its off!! There may be a little noise in the whole
system but not enough to chase at all. The DSP will take care of it.
anymore questions? PS: the reason the mount has two curls in it is for
strength at such a small depth on the mount, if you used 1/2 inch or
better you wouldnt necessarily need the curl. Let me know if I can help
further...My experience is with my two toyotas, no noise problems worth
messin with. I run 706IIG 500 watt amp and HI Q 4" Stealth antenna. yep
I dont think you can buy a better set up. My 7000 is a little better
but not enough to warrant putting it in place of the IIG...besides its
better at home than my 746 PRO!! It twue its twue!! 73 Murray
